Tue, 20/08/2019 - 15:30

East Durham College is thrilled to announce the launch of a new Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care, in partnership with the University of Sunderland.

The new course will be officially launching in September 2020 and gives learners from our region the opportunity to work towards a foundation level degree qualification from Peterlee.

Running over 2 years, the Health and Social Care Foundation Degree will be a full-time course running during the day.

Throughout the course, students will be required to complete placement hours alongside studying. Year 1 of the foundation degree focuses on gaining an understanding of the health and social care sector, along with research methods used. The second year will look at working within the sector and contemporary issues that practitioners may face.

The tuition fee for this course is currently £8,500 per year, with entry requirements of 56 UCAS points gained from a Level 3 qualification, and a GCSE at grade C (4) or above and Level 2 equivalent in Maths and English.

East Durham College already works in close partnership with the University of Sunderland and offers several Higher Education programmes, including: Foundation degree (FdSc) in Sports Coaching, Foundation degree (FdA) in Education and Care, Foundation degree (FdA) in Counselling, Professional Graduate Certificate (PGPCET) or Certificate in Post Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) and a BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (RQF).
