Are you aged 16 to 19 and interested in a career working with animals or plants?
Then why not kick start a career in agriculture, horticulture or animal care with East Durham College’s exciting new Work-based Land-based Operations programme set to run at Bill Quay Community Farm in Gateshead?
The College entered a partnership with the community farm during the summer to help bring land based courses from their highly respected Houghall Campus, in Durham, to a wider audience.
And after a successful start to their partnership with a Level 2 Animal Care Diploma; East Durham College and the Gateshead-based community farm have decided to run a lower level introductory course from this January.
The course will help students gain the basic skills and knowledge needed to start the journey towards getting a job in agriculture, horticulture or animal care.
Students will work on the farm with animals and plants, learn how to use different tools and equipment and develop important work-related skills.
At the end of the course students will come away with an Entry Level 3/Level 1 qualification in Work-based Land-based Operations.
The full time course will every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from mid January through to June.
For more information on the course there will be an open morning at Bill Quay Farm at 10am on Wednesday 8th January.
