East Durham College Rugby Secure National Cup Final Place

East Durham College rugby team are through to their first ever national cup final.
The inform side secured their place in next week’s British Colleges’ Sport final after a convincing 24-11 win at their Houghall Campus over Birmingham Metropolitan College.
After going behind to an early penalty kick EDC quickly rallied going on to dominate the match with tries from Adam McGarry, Andrew Lawson, Joe Arrowsmith, Jasper Dhillon and points added from the boot of Cameron Toole.
The County Durham-based side will travel to the FA’s new National Football Centre, St. George’s Park in Burton upon Trent, next Wednesday to face Sussex Downs College for the coveted trophy.
And EDC RFU Head Coach Gary Beck is proud of his side’s performance and hopes they can replicate their recent form when they get to the final.
Gary said: “It’s an absolutely fantastic achievement for the lads and the College.
“They have worked really hard since the quarter final win to be ready for this game and they went out and delivered.
“It will be a tough game next week in the final but we will work hard and prepare for what will be a fantastic occasion for the College, and hopefully we will bring the trophy back to the north east.”
