East Durham Sixth Form held its very first summer taster day for students who are planning to start their A Levels with the new sixth form in September.
Over 30 young people came along to spend a day at the sixth form known as ED6. The day gave the applicants the chance to experience a couple of AS lessons and to get a better idea of what it’s like to be at college rather than school.
It also gave the students a chance to meet each other as well as some of the new teachers before their first day proper on Monday 3rd September.
Students also got to enjoy a barbeque and chat with their new friends.
Carly Gallagher, 17, from Peterlee, who attends Dene House School, said: “I’m really looking forward to September! Today has been great, it’s been good to meet other ED6 students and get a taste of what its going to be like.
“Its also gave me more of an idea of what A Levels I would like to do, and what to expect when studying my A Levels.”
Joshua Gaut, 17, from Seaham, who goes to Seaham School of Technology, added: “Today’s been a great chance to meet other students and staff, the staff are really friendly.
“I also now know my way around the College better before I come in September, which is a great help. The College itself is very modern, and the new ED6 rooms look mint!”
Jacqui Lee, Director of ED6, said: “It’s been a fantastic day, students came along who didn’t know anybody and didn’t know what to expect from A Levels. The students have made new friends and are looking forward to their studies at ED6, it’s been a great success.”
