East Durham College's elite rugby squad returned from the north west last night with an impressive 3 points to 29 victory against key rivals Myerscough College.

Myerscough, based near Bilsborrow on the Fylde in Lancashire, have always been strong opponents and their squad is linked to the academy at Aviva Premiership outfit Sale Sharks.

Despite the strong opposition the EDC lads ran in five tries, with Cameron Toole adding two successful conversions. The try scorers were Toole, Andrew Lawson, Daniel Wilson, Nathan Horsfall and Captain Joe Arrowsmith.

Head coach Liam Gumbrill said: "With all the rain recently it's been hard to get that many games under our belts due to waterlogged pitches, so it was great for the lads to get another run out and put in such a strong performance."

This well earned victory follows up a great away win last week against Gosforth, by 13-27. Again this was a great win bearing in mind the Gosforth team are linked to Newcastle Falcon's Academy.

Liam added: "The squad have really been building up their confidence and putting in some smashing performances, there's really no one the lads should fear."
