East Durham College student Ehren Tanser has been presented with The Technical Academy’s Best Student Award for February at a recent ceremony.
Ehren, aged 16, from Wheatley Hill, got the Award due to a great attitude to his studies on an Access to Building Services course at the Peterlee-based College’s specialist construction training facilities, The Technical Academy.
Robert Hutchinson, an Education Manager based at the Academy which is sited on Peterlee’s South West Industrial Estate, said: “Ehren is a smashing student, he’s got bags of ambition and has a clear career goal.
“He’s proved he can use his own initiative on a range of practical and theory tasks on his course, and this should go long way to ensuring he gains the entry requirements needed to progress on to the next level.
“Ehren has made excellent progress in all areas. He’s a pleasure to teach and has a really mature approach to his studies. He deserves to do very well, he always puts in 100% even with the Maths element of his studies which he original had some fear of.”
Ehren added: “It was great to win this Award and is great for the CV. I’m really enjoying being at the Academy and learning loads of new things, meeting new people and making some great new friends.”
Ehren, who sat his exams today, is hoping to now start on an Electro-technical Technology course at the Academy and plans to become an Electrical Engineer when he leaves college.
The Technical Academy is located in a 37,000 sq. ft. purpose-build facility on Peterlee’s South West Industrial Estate. The Academy offers a high quality training environment in a range of construction trades including plastering, tiling, gas, electric and fitted interiors.
