Students from East Durham College’s Peter Jones Enterprise Academy course this week attended a graduation ceremony in London.
The College’s first intake onto the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy, which started last September, have all successfully completed the course and received their graduation certificates from Peter Jones himself.
The ceremony took place at the Freemasons’ Hall in London’s Covent Garden and was attended by tycoon Peter Jones along with the Patron of the Peter Jones Foundation HRH The Duke of York, Prince Andrew.
Students from all of the Peter Jones academies across the country were represented and each student received a certificate from Peter Jones before he stood for pictures with each student.
East Durham College lecturer Jill Campbell hailed the day as a fantastic experience and was really proud to see her first set of students honoured for their hard work.
Jill said: “It was a fantastic day and a real celebration honouring the hard work of all the Peter Jones Academy students.
“The students from the College have had a fantastic year and have really taken a lot from the course and are all set to go on to do some fantastic things, so this was the perfect send off for them on this wonderful occasion.
“It was also great to see Peter Jones take the time to speak to all the students and get photos with them, what a gentleman.”
And Peter Jones hailed all the graduates and cant wait to see what they do in the future.
Peter said: “The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy graduation is always such a highlight for me and it is fantastic to celebrate the next generation of entrepreneurs as they embark on the next chapter of their lives – these are the ones to watch, the young people who will be changing the world!”
