East Durham College student Gabriella Pickering recently won the Equine Award at the College’s June Student Awards ceremony.
Gabriella, along with seven other students from different course areas at the College, was presented with her achievement certificate and prize by Interim Principal Eugene McCrossan.
Gabriella, 17, from Hawthorn, has been studying on a NPTC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Horse Management.
Lecturer Anne Symons said: “Gabby’s attendance and punctuality is an excellent 100% throughout the year. All written tasks have been completed in a timely manner, and she strives to improve and raise standards all the time.
“Gabby is an excellent student to have in classroom and practical sessions. She always tries her best and goes above and beyond requirements to complete practical tasks.
“Gabby continues to improve and demonstrates very good practical skills and has learnt to work on her own initiative when required. Always demonstrates a very good attitude and gets on well with all group members. Always works quickly and efficiently.
“Gabby is a bubbly pleasant girl, nothing is ever too much trouble and she always has a smile on her face. Gabby always tries to the best of her ability and is enthusiastic and motivated at all times.”
