This course is a 13 hours, taught over 3 weeks and is designed to introduce you to basic horse care to lead on to our follow up course.

Overview of the course: 

This course is aimed at parents whose children are horse mad - and need to get up to speed! It is also ideal for adults who have a passion for horses and interested in learning the skills needed to contribute towards the day to day care of horses.

Entry requirements: 

Open to learners aged 19+.
No formal Entry requirements.
Study boots are needed for practical work.


The course will cover horse behaviour, working safely with horses, daily routines, tacking up, changing rugs and basic feeding.

Theory and practical

Progression to a full time course or more in depth short course

3 Mondays evenings 5- 8:30pm (12th, 19th and 26th April)

Free if you are under the age of 19 on the 31st August 2020

Free if you are under 25 on the 31st August 2020 with a statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan

Free if you are aged 19-23 on 31st August 2020 and do not already have a full Level 2 qualification – contact us to check your qualifications

Free if you are unemployed and in receipt of eligible benefits – contact us to check if you are eligible

Free if you are employed and your income is less than £17,004
