Facilitated Learning at East Durham College offers a flexible learning environment for all learners in the areas of ICT and essential skill including literacy and numeracy. There are numerous PCs available for students to drop in and complete work, with tutors available at all times to provide support when required.
The Facilitated Learning Department have recently had their 2000th learner success. Andrew Bell, aged, 17, from Wingate, enrolled on the programme to study a City and Guilds Diploma in Word Processing and Spreadsheets along side his full time course, the NCFE Level 2 Certificate For Entry to the Uniformed Services.
Andrew is trying to gain as many qualifications as possible in order to support his application to join the police force. Andrew commented, “I enjoyed just being able to drop in and out to do my work and the staff were very helpful”.
Andrew has not only been studying for these two qualifications, he’s has also remarkably been studying on a range of different courses from Emergency First Aid at Work to the HAB Level 2 in Professional Cookery!
David Wilson, Facilitated Learning Co-ordinator added, “Andrew is a very hard worker and all of us in the team wish him the best of luck in his quest to join the police”.
