“Teachers demonstrate good subject knowledge and expertise, delivered with great enthusiasm to motivate and engage students.”
“Support for students is good. They value particularly the individual tutorials, and the availability and approachability of teachers outside lessons, via text, email or the VLE for help and advice to support their good progress.”
“Accommodation and resources are excellent, including outstanding sports facilities used effectively to develop students’ practical skills and support progress.”
“Students value the enrichment programme in sport highly. They benefit from the good opportunities to progress, achieve and succeed in chosen sports academies or elite athlete scholarships with structured training programmes, fixtures in the British Colleges league and selection to represent college and regional teams.”
See what some of our former students have to say:
“I studied Sports Science whilst at the College. The staff were all very supportive and helped me get a good grade. The football academy was class and helped me improve as a player. I’m currently in the States at Atlanta University playing football whilst studying to complete my degree there. I will always fondly remember my time at East Durham College as it got me to where I am today.” Tom Gavin.
“We studied L3 Sport at East Durham College before going on to complete the foundation degree. The course was excellent and the teachers and coaches were very professional. The course got us where we wanted in our careers and after completing the full degree we now coach football and other sports independently. Our football careers have also gone well playing for Darlington FC and Durham City.” Amar and Arjun Purewel.
“I studied L3 Sport at East Durham College and then stayed at the College to complete my foundation degree. I loved my time there, the teaching staff were quality and I learned so much. I also improved as a footballer and got to use the unbelievable facilities there and I’m now currently playing in the Northern League. Career wise the College got me to where I wanted to be, a sports lecturer.” John Bowes.
“I studied Sports Science at the College before completing the foundation degree. I also played in the College’s football academy. Overall I had a great time; academic staff and coaches were very supportive and always tried to improve me. After a stint working for the NHS as an assistant physio, I’m now completing a master’s degree to become an operation theatre assistant within a hospital.” Sean Lindsey.
