Come along to our Foundation Degree (FdA) in Education and Care Open Evening at EDC’s main Peterlee campus from 6:30pm until 7:00pm
East Durham College will be hosting an informal open evening at our main Peterlee campus, where you can find out more about this exciting qualification.
This part time foundation Degree provides a professional development opportunity for those working with young people in nurseries, primary schools, youth centres or similar settings.
This course mixes academic rigour with practical skills that you can apply directly to your workplace.
First Year Modules include
- Study and Self Thinking Skills
- Creativity and Problem Solving
- Human Development
- Transitions and Change
- Diversity and Inclusion
- Understanding the Curriculum
- The Social Context of Childhood
As this course is part time it is the perfect way to help you progress in your career; helping you acquire the industry knowledge and skills that will enable you to fulfil your potential within the children and young personals sector.
The two-year course is delivered in partnership with the University of Sunderland and could open a diverse range of career opportunities within this field.

GCSE or equivalent in English and maths at grade C/4 or above.
You must also have a clear DBS within 3 years at enrolment.
The drop-in event is open to anyone who is already working with children or young people (aged 0-16) and hold a relevant level 3 qualification.
This open evening will be held in the Gateway Room at East Durham College, Willerby Grove, Peterlee, SR8 2RN from 6:30pm until 7:00pm.
