The new intake of students at East Durham College start their courses this week, but not without some fun and advice first.
The Peterlee and Houghall campuses hosted their 2014 Freshers Fayre with a number of entertainers and advice stands coming into help the students get settled into a college environment.
The week saw entertainment from activities such as a bungee run, driving simulator and sports teams try outs and sports tournaments.
Along with this there were stands from the Royal Navy, Army, Community Drugs Service, Horizon young adult carers service, National Careers Service, University of Sunderland and 4Real Alcohol Education.
Student Liaison Officer Jamie Calford hailed the week a fantastic success and believes the fun activities can help the first year student’s transition into a new environment easier. “The week has been fantastic fun, with some tremendous performances and lots of exciting activities going on around the college for the new students to enjoy.
“The Freshers Fayre gives the students the opportunity to find out more about the college as they get started on their new courses and also mix with other new students as they start life at EDC.”
