What about if you could make an exciting career outdoors, helping to care for wild animals such as lions, jaguars, tigers and bears? With EDC's exciting L3 Countryside and Management programme, you can learn a wide variety of conservation skills which can lead to amazing careers outside.

Taught at our Houghall campus in Durham, the L3 Countryside and Management programme is a hands-on, practical programme which lets you take advantage of Houghall's extensive estate.

The Houghall Campus contains everything you'll need for learning about habitat management, preparing, undertaking and interpreting surveys, managing the work of volunteers, managing sites and planning, delivering and evaluating environmental projects.

With this qualification, you could move into roles including a conservation officer, wildlife rehabilitation officer, nature conservation manager or an environmental health officer, working all over the world. You could find yourself working as a ranger in the amazing woods we have here in England, or you could move abroad to other areas where you will interact with and help to conserve other animals ranging from lions, tigers and bears to elephants and other endangered species.

This course is also an ideal stepping stone into higher apprenticeships, or to move on to university to study conservation and other related degree subjects.

Countryside Rangers, on average, earn starting salaries of £16k. As you gain more experience, you could earn up to £30,000 per year, as well as having the opportunity to live and work in some of the most exciting places in the world, doing real work that makes a real difference to our environment.
