A team of hair and beauty therapy students are busy with final preparations to get ready to try and regain the title of ‘Best College’ in the North East.
The students from East Durham College will once again compete at the annual North East Regional Heats of the prestigious Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Competition which they won in 2011.
The highly competitive event takes place on Monday 11th February at the Federation Brewery in Gateshead, where the group of over 40 East Durham College students will battle it out against hundreds of other students from nine other colleges from across the region.
The teams will compete in 14 different competition categories, with the top three in each category winning a place at the National AHT finals held in March in Blackpool.
Simon Smith, Curriculum Leader for Hair and Beauty at the College, said: “The students are all very excited and looking forward to the event.
“They have been working really hard, taking part in special competition preparation classes to get ready for Gateshead. I wish them the best of luck.”
