Overview of the course: 

This qualification is ideal for experienced and qualified hair and beauty professionals who work unsupervised, possibly in a supervisory or managerial role, and have a high level of relevant knowledge and skills.

Entry requirements: 

Candidates must have one of the following qualifications:

Level 3 S/NVQ in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy or equivalent
Level 3 Modern/Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy. All learners must have access to work experience in order to complete this level 4 qualification. Learners under 19 years of age will need to complete functional skills or GCSE depending on qualifications already achieved.


Topics covered in the course are; Salon Management where you will produce a plan of improving the management of products & services in your own salon, evaluating client care procedures within the hair and beauty sector. Other areas of study include a specialised hair and scalp unit, photography and managing a hairstyle collection.

How is the course assessed?: 

You will be assessed throughout the course, practically on several occasions on specialised hair and scalp, photography and managing a hairstyle collection. There are also written assignments within each unit that are graded Pass, Merit, Distinction.

This Level 4 Diploma qualification can help you set up and run your own Hairdressing or Beauty Business.
You will acquire the skills to manage staff and resources, learn how to develop and promote your business, and develop advanced technical skills that are bespoke to the hairdressing industry, and are only offered by a minority of local salons

Part Time Monday & Thursday evenings.

Fees for this course are: £3345.00

If you have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and are under the age of 19 on the 31st August, you will not usually need to pay any course fees.

If you are aged 19 or over on the day your main course starts you may be able to take out an Advanced Learning Loan to pay for this course.

City & Guilds Group Bursaries
City & Guilds Group Bursaries are available to learners starting or completing a City & Guilds or ILM qualification, starting courses on or after 1st September 2017.

To qualify learners need to be able to
- Demonstrate genuine financial need that would otherwise prevent them from completing their chosen qualification
- Be over 19 years old
- Be a UK resident.

Bursaries range from £200 to £10,000 and can cover any costs that arise as a result of the learner undertaking a City & Guilds or ILM qualification.

- Materials/ Tools/ Books
- Childcare
- *Living Costs
