Horticulture Experts To Gather At Houghall

East Durham College will soon be hosting the bi-annual Houghall Horticultural Training Centre event.
The event, held at the College’s Houghall Campus in Durham in March, is run by the College in conjunction with the Houghall Horticultural Training Centre (HHTC) - an organisation made up for local authorities across the North of England.
During the event there will be various guest speakers giving talks and Q&A sessions on a range of up-to-date topics relevant to people working in the horticultural industry and gardening enthusiasts alike.
Speakers include the HSE on Health & Safety in Landbased Industry, Roger Burnett, from Scarborough Council, on Working in the Community and Sue Wood, from Harrogate Council, on sustainable planting/cost effectiveness.
In the second sessions there are talks by Robert Bone, from Sherriff Amenity, on Sports field Equipment, John Hughes, from DLF Trifolium, on Grass Seed Cultivars and Martin Fish, Director of Shows (Harrogate), on current trends in Horticulture Shows.
Closing remarks will be given by Rae Beckwith, Chairman of the Houghall Horticultural Training Centre.
The free event is on Tuesday 13th March 2012, starting at 9.30am and closes at 12.30pm.
