Hospitality & Catering Provide Support At Remembrance Day Event 2009

Thu, 30/03/2000 - 01:00

Hospitality & Catering students and staff recently assisted the Heugh Gun Battery on Hartlepool Headland with their annual remembrance day event on Sunday 8th November. The students helped to provide food and drinks for the veterans and serving soldiers which were heartily welcomed as the heavens had opened precisely on 11 o’clock, drenching the entire parade.

Grateful thanks were received from the guests and the working relationship will be further developed with the Battery to enhance the work experience opportunities for Hospitality, Catering & Travel & Tourism students. This could include the opportunity to assist with tours, ghost walks and the Tall Ships Race which is coming to Hartlepool in 2010, with upwards of a million visitors to the area. This could be a really valuable opportunity for our students to take part in the largest free event in Europe.

Anyone wishing to visit the Battery can check out information from the link,

Thanks also to services/transport staff for their help preparing for the day.
