At the East Durham College’s Board of Governors recent meeting the future of the Houghall Campus was its main agenda item. The outcome is great news for the College and the north east region.
Stuart Wesselby, Principal & Chief Executive Officer, explained: “I delighted to report that the Board concurred that the provision at the Houghall Campus is an integral part of the College plans and that there are no immediate plans to dispose of any part of the site.
“Since I started I have always maintained that the Houghall Campus has great opportunities for the College and believe that the North East needs a grade one agricultural college.
“We now have the opportunity to grow the provision at Houghall and deliver a grade one learning experience - alongside exploring all the commercial opportunities that we can for the site.”
The College recently had a large commercial success in that the Campus has provided accommodation for over 40 Durham University students for this academic year.
