Houghall Meets St.Trinian's

Staff at East Durham College’s Houghall Campus proved they were game for a laugh, when they recently dressed up and sang the theme to St. Trinian's, by Girls Aloud, to a large audience of their students and colleagues.
The equine staff organised the performance as part of a fundraising event, aimed at raising money to help towards the cost of putting on several equine displays to take place during the forthcoming Houghall Campus Open Day.
Every year the equine staff and students develop new equine musical display and parades which form a centre piece for the Open Day. This year the musical rides will be to ACDC’s Thunderstruck (being used on the Iron Man 2 soundtrack) and Sweet Ballroom Blitz with the display being called ‘The Rocking Horse Show’.
The College Lecturers who took part in the St. Trinian's rendition were Anne Symons & Tracey Smith (Equine), Helen Mitchell (Animal Care), Dawn James (Horticulture), Laura Hogan (Personal Tutor) and Peter Whitfield (Land Based Resources Coordinator) made a surprise appearance as the head mistress at the end of the performance!
The event was a huge success and raised a total £190.00 which will help with the cost for materials and costumes. The extra money makes a huge difference to the quality of the equine displays and enables the students to put on a show to really represent their commitment, developing skills and achievements.
The Houghall Campus Open Day is on Sunday 23rd May, 10am till 4pm.
