Have you ever considered a career in animal care, floristry or agriculture? Then a course at East Durham College’s Houghall campus could be right for you.
East Durham College’s Houghall Campus is set to host its annual January open day event for prospective students looking to join in September 2014.
The Durham-based campus is home to East Durham College’s landbased training offering; specialising in course such as horticulture, floristry, arboriculture and forestry and environmental conservation.
And if you are interested in a future career working with animals then Houghall is also the place for you. The site runs courses in agriculture, animal care, equine studies and veterinary nursing.
Lecturers and support staff from all subject areas will be on hand to show you around and tell you more about the courses on offer.
As well as full-time courses there are a number of short and part-time course options available, with courses ranging from chainsaw maintenance and dry stone walling to horse riding road safety and first aid for dogs. Many of these courses run throughout the year.
Head of Houghall Jane Pringle said: “This really is the ideal opportunity to have a look round the great facilities we have here at Houghall, and teaching staff will be thrilled to provide visitors with expert advice and guidance.
“Also a number of our full-time courses do fill up fast, such as animal care, so the sooner you find out more and apply the better chance you have of securing a place for September.”
So, if you’re thinking about a career, or gaining an extra qualification, in any of these landbased sectors why not pop along. The event will take place on Saturday 18th January, between 1pm and 4pm.
The Houghall Campus is situated on the A177, just south of Durham City Centre, near Shincliffe. For more information on the open day please call 0191 375 4710.
