Fans of BBC Two’s Lambing Live, presented by Kate Humble and Adam Henson, will be excited to hear East Durham College’s Houghall Campus is getting set to hosts it’s very first lambing event.
The event will be held at Houghall Farm, in Durham, on Sunday 23rd March between 11am and 3pm.
As well as the lambs there will be a number of other attractions available on the day including tours around the small animal unit where you can meet the College’s impressing range of reptiles and small mammals (not in the same cage of course), also meet the cows and calves and pigs and piglets on the farm plus falconry displays, arts and crafts activities for the kids, plants sales and demos. Refreshments will be available too.
And all this is priced at just £5.00 per car for a brilliant family day out.
Farm manager Keith Cook can’t wait for the day and believes it will be a fantastic chance for the public to meet all the animals and learn more about the livestock at the site.
Keith said: “I believe this new event at the College will be a great opportunity to show what we are doing at Houghall Farm to meet the future needs of industry and equip our learners with the skills and knowledge to meet the needs of employers.”
“We can’t guarantee a live birth on the day, but there will certainly be loads of new born lambs for visitors to see.
“We will have loads of animals on show from both the farm itself and people will be able to go and have a look round our fantastic animal care facility too.
“With all the activities we have planned it looks set to be a great day out for all the family.”
