Jade Hodge has been selected for an East Durham College Student of the Month award for the work on her Business course in March.
Jade collected her award at a ceremony in the college’s Scene1 Restaurant on Monday.
Jade has been praised for her high quality of work and her dedication to improving her attendance on the course at the College.
Jade’s tutor Julie McClelland said: “Jade has completed both the level 2 qualifications in Maths and English and is now working at a Distinction grade level on the Business course.
“Jade is a very quiet member of the group but she always shows fantastic professionalism in her work and in the college environment.
“Jade didn’t have a very good attendance record in college and this came down to her living in Southwick with a near two hour travel distance.
“She has now moved to Peterlee to live with family between Monday and Wednesday to make sure she is able to attend college and her attendance has certainly improved.”
