Headline act are Sage Gateshead’s  14 piece Jambone directed by Paul Edis. Packed full of talented young musicians, in recent years members of the band have taken part in the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year and have performed at Gateshead International Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Manchester Jazz Festival,  Skye Jazz and Swing and The Parliamentary Jazz Awards.

Support comes from stunning vocalist Mollie McKeown, a former East Durham College student,  who will be performing a set inspired by classic female jazz vocalists and from 17 year old solo guitarist Nathan Lawson.

There will also be an improvisation workshop 4-5pm at East Durham College led by Paul Edis on the day of the concert for young people aged 11-18, and staff from Sage Gateshead’s Young Musician Programme will be on hand to give information and advice on how to get involved and the bursaries that are available for talented young musicians. If you play an instrument or sing and would like to have a go at improvisation please e-mail emmadfisk@gmail.com for more information or to book a place.

“We are very excited to present this concert featuring such talented young musicians”, said Emma Fisk, jazz violinist and music lecturer at East Durham College, “I really hope lots of local families and young people will come along to enjoy their fabulous music even if they‘ve never been to a jazz gig before. We’ll have a lovely relaxed atmosphere on the night so this is a great opportunity to give something new a try!”

The show starts at 7pm with doors open at 6.45pm and tickets are available from www.lubetkinjazz.com or on Tel: 0191 5872534 and boxoffice@eastdurham.ac.uk
