Jessica Hagan, was in ‘wonderland’ after winning a high profile national competition run by nail polish manufacturing giant OPI.
Jessica, aged 17 from Trimdon Grange in County Durham, is a student at East Durham College on a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Beauty and undertaking her Apprenticeship placement with Amore Beauty in Ferryhill.
Jessica spotted the OPI competition to create an Alice in Wonderland themed window display in a magazine and asked her employer if they could enter.
Jessica said: "I was thrilled to win the window display competition.
“The course has really helped me improve my skills and confidence to work in the business. I’m loving working at Amore and it’s great as clients are now asking for me when they book a treatment.”
Her boss, Sharon Cole, added: "Jessica has become an invaluable asset to the company. The support from the College has been brilliant and we have now taken on a second apprentice (Rebecca Ward) as the business grows.
“The company is about to expand into manufacturing beauty products using 100% natural cosmetics – so it’s an exciting time and the partnership with the College will keep developing.”
Jessica’s window display won the salon an OPI Excellence Award and she won first place. This has meant that the salon has received national PR through OPI’s newsletter and website.
