BTEC Performing Arts student Jonathon Ryan has been selected to receive March’s Creative industries Student of the Month award.

Jonathon, 19, from Haswell collected his award at a ceremony in the College’s Scene1 restaurant on Monday.

Curriculum leader Amanda Gregory has praised Jonathon for his enthusiasm for performing arts and the high standard of work he has brought to the course.

Amanda said: “Jonathon is an engaging student with a great enthusiasm for performing arts.

“Jonathon is not afraid to express himself and particularly excels in his drama work and has put in some fantastic performances, scaring people at a Halloween event in Hartlepool and performing as the Ghost of Christmas Present over three nights in adverse conditions during Beamish museum’s Christmas celebrations.

“Jonathon always volunteers to be part of additional experiences and has thus grown in confidence and skills; at times working above the level of work expected from him, he’s a pleasure to teach.”
