East Durham College will be holding a special St. Patricks Day themed event on Thursday 17th March 2011.

The hospitality and catering students and staff are busy working hard on the final preparations for the evening, to take place at the College’s lovely bistro style restaurant Scene1.

The 3-course evening meal for the bash was the inspiration of Executive Chef at the College Joe Keenan.

Joe Keenan, who was born in Leitrim, Ireland, said: “We’re using all fresh Irish ingredients for the Paddy’s Day Bash. The event will provide the hospitality and catering students with some really valuable experience of planning and putting on a themed night event. It’s going to be a great craic!”

The event is sure to be a big hit under the expert supervision of Joe, who used to be a professional footballer, playing for a number of Scottish clubs and also winning 6 caps for The Republic of Ireland U21s.

Joe, who also works as the Head Chef at the Newcastle Falcons, has an impressive CV since moving into catering. He used to own and ran his own restaurant, the Centurion Inn at Langley Park, which was in ‘The Good Food Guide’ top 5 nationally for 10 years and he has also gained 13 rosettes over the course of his career.

The three course meal will only cost £12.95 and there are still some tables available from 7.00pm. To reserve a table please call Scene1 on 0191 518 8302.
