A leading North East college, with sites in Peterlee and Durham, is seeking applications from successful people to join their Board of Governors.
East Durham College currently has two vacancies on its Board and would also like to enhance its reserve list for future Governor vacancies.
The College would particularly welcome applications from people in human resources, legal professions, the land based and agriculture sector and those with expertise in the areas of equality and diversity.
The College is also very keen to hear from people with disabilities or those with a good understanding of the needs of people with disabilities.
New Principal Suzanne Duncan, who joined the College in her new role in September, believes that the role of a Governor at East Durham can be really beneficial to both parties.
“By joining the Board you can make an important contribution to a thriving college and directly impact on the development of future training; making sure learners gain the skills required by today’s employers,” explained Mrs Duncan.
“The Board of Governors plays a key role in deciding the overall strategic direction and educational character of the College.”
The College is keen to receive applications from people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
Being a Governor is a voluntary role but Mrs Duncan added: “The role brings many social and professional rewards, such as boardroom experience; helping you to make a positive step towards long-term career development.”
Governors will be expected to attend meetings of the Board held seven times per year and at least two training sessions per year.
