East Durham College student Leah Hall has been selected for a December Student of the Month award for her work in A-level Media Studies at East Durham College’s Sixth Form ED6.

Leah, 16 from Peterlee joined the brand new sixth form in September studying Dance, Drama and ICT, but it’s her work in Media over the past month that has lead to her being put forward for a Student of the Month award.

Lecturer Mark Johnson put Leah forward for the award for her work and commitment to the course over the past month.

Mark said: “This month Leah has really worked hard and committed herself to the course which has really shown through the work she has produced. She really deserves this award.

And Mark believes that receiving the award will be a huge boost for Leah and hopes that it can drive her to continue this level of work into the New Year.

He added: “Leah has been improving week after week on the course and it really shows that you can achieve more when you put more in.

“She is currently working above expectations and I hope being selected for this award will be a huge source of encouragement, helping her to continue to achieve more when she returns to the College in the New Year."
