A highly-talented East Durham College lecturer has been named as a ‘Master Craftsman’ in the field of barbering.
The top honour in the trade has been awarded to lecturer, Alison Scattergood, by the Hair Council for her hard work and dedication to the education of barbering qualifications.
The Master Craftsmen Diploma in Barbering is one of the highest honours awarded nationally to barbers and adds to Alison’s status of British Master Barber that she received last year.
A shocked Alison, couldn’t believe it when she was told she was receiving the award and is proud to have had her work recognised by one of the country’s top hair and beauty institutions.
Alison, from Peterlee, said: “This is a huge honour and one that was completely unexpected.
“I am really proud to receive this award from such a highly regarded institution. “I really love my job and the role it plays in the industry, I believe it is really important for people working in the barbering industry to go out and get their qualifications.
“At East Durham College we work to an extremely high standard to make sure all students who leave here after the course are prepared with all the skills and confidence to go out and work in the barbering industry.
