One very lucky East Durham College student has just had the amazing opportunity to work on BBC1’s The Big Questions when it was recently filmed in the North East. Level 2 Media Diploma student Conner Walker, 17, from Peterlee, got to work alongside production broadcast professionals, as Nicky Campbell hosted an episode of the moral, ethical and religious debate show filmed in Newcastle on Sunday 28th February 2016.
The opportunity came about as part of a work experience element of Conner’s course which enabled him to see first-hand a live TV show broadcast and to begin to create some great connections within the professional media world. Conner said: “It was a really early start but I loved every minute of the day.
I never thought these types of opportunities would be available to me at a college level, so it’s amazing that I can already put on my CV that I’ve worked on something as huge as BBC1’s The Big Questions.” Conner’s lecturer Suzi Martin added “This invaluable experience is really encouraged at East Durham College and another great example of our students taking what they’ve learnt in the classroom into the real world for work. “Conner did such a great job the BBC have kindly offered a work experience place for another of our students to work on Question Time when they film in York.”
