East Durham College is delighted to announce it is extending its part-time creative courses offering with the start of new Photography courses.

The evening courses will be taught at the College’s Peterlee Campus on Willerby Grove.

The Level 1 course will run for three hours, one evening a week, for 10-weeks and will only cost £95 - with the exam fee being paid for by the College.

The course will cover the basics of composition, digital photos and Photoshop. There are no formal entry requirements making it ideal for beginners.

After completing the Level 1 course or students who may have a little more experience can enrol on to the College’s Level 2 Photography and Digital Imaging course. This is a 30-week evening course which will cost £275 starting in September 2011.

Paul Wheatcroft, Director of Creative Industries at the College, said: “Everyone takes photographs, be it with a mobile phone or a digital SLR. So many of us post these images on to Facebook and increasingly people like to make books and gifts using them.

“If you want to know more about how to make the best of your photographic skills or to learn how to become a more professional photographer, then these courses will be perfect for you.”

The Level 1 course is designed so anyone who has their own digital camera capable of downloading images on to a computer using a USB connection can do it. The College will provide more professional equipment for the Level 2 course.
