New Principal Starts At East Durham College

The Corporation of East Durham College is delighted to announce that Suzanne Duncan has started in post as the new Principal and Chief Executive Officer of East Durham College.
Suzanne took up the post on 3rd September 2012.
Mrs Duncan was selected following a national search and recruitment exercise culminating in an intensive three day final selection process.
Hartlepool-born Suzanne joins the College from Sunderland College where she had worked for five and a half years in the role of Vice Principal.
Mrs Duncan, aged 41, who now lives in Durham, previously worked at East Durham College as Assistant Principal from 2003 to 2007.
Sue Reece, Chair of the Corporation, said: “I am delighted that the Board of Governors has appointed Suzanne Duncan as the new Principal and Chief Executive Officer of East Durham College.
“Suzanne brings to the College an impressive range of experience and a successful track record.
“She will take forward our ambitious three year plan to become an outstanding college.
“The Governors, staff and students look forward to an exciting new chapter in the life of East Durham College.”
Mrs Duncan added: “I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed Principal and Chief Executive Officer at East Durham College.
“I am extremely privileged to have the opportunity to lead East Durham College to the next stage in its development, and I’m very excited about the positive contribution we can make to the individuals, communities and local economies we serve.”
Mrs Duncan was educated at Northumbria where she read Travel and Tourism Management. She went on to work in the travel industry for a number of years in London before returning to the North East.
The College, which has campuses in Peterlee, and Houghall near Durham City, employs nearly 500 full and part time staff and has over 2,000 learners.
