New Team To Drive East Durham College Forward

East Durham College are delighted to announce the appointment of a new senior management team.

The College has created the new team of three to support College Principal Stuart Wesselby in driving the College forward.

Sue Reece, Chair of the Corporation at the College, explains: “As the College enters challenging times, with the prospect of reduced government funding and a tightening fiscal environment, the College has responded by putting in a place a dynamic and focussed new senior management to help its development over the coming years.”

Sally Hudson assumes the role of Vice Principal for Curriculum & Performance. Sally was an existing Assistant Principal at the College and has responsibility for the curriculum and its performance, and has strong experience in both general further education and the land based sector.

Andrew Phillips joins the College from outside the further education sector. He takes up the new role of Vice Principal for Business Development and External Relations. Andrew has a wide range of commercial experience, his last post being Global Operations Director for a large charity, The Institution of Engineering and Technology. He will have responsibility for increasing revenue opportunities for the College and engaging with local business and enterprise in the region.

Finally, Eugene McCrossan joins the College from the University of Northumbria as the new Vice Principal for Finance & Business Planning. Eugene has had a very successful career at Northumbria where he was Finance & Business Planning Director and helped to develop the University into the successful institution that it is today.

College Principal & CEO, Stuart Wesselby, commenting on the new appointments, added: “I am really enthused about the future of this College. I believe the new team will bring energy and enthusiasm to drive this College forward. I’m really looking forward to working with my new team.”

Mrs Hudson took up her new post at the beginning of December. Mr Phillips, who is relocation from London will join in January, with Mr McCrossan completing the team in February.
