One Step Beyond Careers Event

East Durham College will be hosting a special careers event for local Year 9 pupils, and their parents, to help them start exploring their future career choices.
The College is working in partnership with local schools to bring together a wide range of employers, training providers, armed forces, other further education colleges, sixth forms and universities - to help give the young people of the area as much information as possible about the options available to them when they finish school.
This will help them firm up on their school options which they must make very soon
Fred Harrison, Assistant Principal at the College, explained: “This is the first time we have held an event of this type specifically for Year 9 pupils.
“It’s very important to help young people as early as possible to start thinking about what they might do after school and what career they’d like to pursue.
“This sort of event is an ideal way to get them to start looking at the right education and training paths to take to ensure they fulfil their job ambitions or to just think about what they might like to do.”
The College is expecting over 1,000 Year 9 pupils, from the seven local schools in East Durham, as well as a large number of its own students to visit the event.
Pupils from any school year and their parents are also encouraged to come along between 4pm and 6pm.
The event will be held on Tuesday 1st February between 9.00am and 6.00pm, at East Durham College’s Peterlee Campus on Willerby Grove.
