Open Day Sees Record Crowds... AGAIN

East Durham College’s annual open day, held at their Houghall Campus, was once again a resounding success with over 3,000 visitors attending the event.
The day gave visitors a great opportunity to find out more about the wide range of land based courses and training the College offers. Plus there was loads of fun for all the family, with a number of demonstrations and activities throughout the day including various equine displays, dog agility, sheep shearing, archery, falconry and a zip line.
The equine arena proved ever popular with the crowds who were treated to some ‘spooky’ horse riding displays by the equine students including musical rides to Flash, Monster Mash, Ghost Busters and the Dr Who theme tune.
Equine Lecturer Anne Symons said; “I’m overwhelmed by the commitment and professionalism displayed by all the students. Students from all levels within the Equine Unit have displayed unquestionable motivation and enthusiasm.”
Jane Pringle, Head of Houghall, added; “We are thrilled at the success and massive turnout for the event. It was a great opportunity for us to showcase the fabulous estate we have at Houghall.
“All the staff were fantastic but thanks must also go to the students, who’s help in the lead up and on the day made it all possible.”
