115 students from East Durham College are celebrating this week after finding out they have been accepted onto higher education courses.

Students will be studying 70 different types of degrees ranging across a wide variety of disciplines, including Nursing, Biomedical Science, Physiotherapy, Criminology, Computing and Law.

The degrees will take place at leading higher education institutions across the UK, with students travelling to 28 different universities including Durham, York, Cumbria, Manchester Metropolitan and Liverpool.

Gillian Hales, Careers Coordinator at East Durham College, said: “We’re all extremely proud of the students here for being accepted onto their degrees. They’ve all worked extremely hard and we wish them all the best for the next exciting chapter.

“The 115 confirmed placements number is likely to rise even further, as some students are still waiting on the results of GCSEs or are still deciding on the route they want to take.”

East Durham College, which has campuses in both Peterlee and Houghall, Durham, offers a wide variety of courses and further education routes for students. These include A-levels at the ED6 sixth form, foundation degrees, apprenticeships and many other courses in many fields including Agriculture, Computing, Animal Care, Equine, Construction and more.
