Students Make A Splash At Opening Ceremony

Several PA students were chosen to perform complicated aquatic dance routines to celebrate the opening of the new Sunderland Aquatic Centre.

In addition to being chosen for such a fabulous event, the students, all with the East Durham College Performing Arts departments, were all paid for their efforts.

Hundreds of spectators turned up to watch the event, with broadcasts being shown on both ITV and BBC television.

As one of our students commented: “This was a fantastic opportunity, and something I’m still amazed to have been involved with. We work hard to improve our skills at the College and it’s nice to see that our efforts have paid off – both in terms of getting such an amazing opportunity to perform and also very literally, with cash in our pockets. It’s the real experiences like this which bring your studies to life.”
