OCR Cambridge Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts
Completion of this programme would give the learner a Level 3 OCR Extended Diploma in Performing Arts. Progression could be into employment or an Apprenticeship. You will have exposure to a range of practical activities through workshops, rehearsals, performances and work experience to develop practical skills and build theoretical portfolios to prepare you for the next level of study.
The OCR Level 3 programmes are designed to help you extend your understanding of the Performing Arts Industry whilst developing your skills in dance, drama music and production; you will learn techniques as well as create your own performances. You will work on production projects and be involved in many activities both onsite and at external venues. Learners have the opportunity to perform on board the ferry to Holland, participate in the annual Community Pantomime and be made up as a zombie for the Zombie Apocalypse Halloween event. If you are passionate about working in the Arts, then this is the programme for you.
Five 9-4 grade GCSEs (including Maths and English).
The programme is 'learner responsive' which means we build projects around the learners who have chosen this programme of study. You will be given guidance over the development of projects, which help you to develop independence. You will also participate in annual events, stage major productions and have the opportunity to see professional performances at venues in London and experience a different culture in Holland.
The work you complete is graded as 'Pass' / Merit / Distinction' and you will have two opportunities to submit work for assessment for each unit. The course is assessed internally by an Assessor, before being Internally and Externally Verified to check the marking is consistent. Assessment includes live performance, written submissions, viva voce (interview to camera), photographic evidence, sound track or music CD.
The OCR Cambridge Technicals Level 3 Extended Diploma is the second year of the programme, with the Introductory Diploma in year one; you will study across three to four days each week.

‘The thing I love about being on performing arts is that we get to rehearse in the studios when we aren't in sessions. It is helping me progress my dance skills and the sessions are challenging me to think about things differently. We have work deadlines every week to make sure that we are on track which is good’
