A-Levels (ED6 Sixth Form Centre)
EDC's Peterlee campus is also home to our dedicated sixth form centre, ED6. With 100% pass rate on ALL A Level subjects for three years (2016, 2017 and 2018) as well as the highest progression in the entire country from GCSE to A Level for our students, you can truly Stay Local and Go Further with ED6.
Access to Higher Education
Exclusively for adults, Access to Higher Education courses give those without the qualifications needed to go to university a route into Higher Education study. Subjects include Humanities, Science, Midwifery, Education and more.
Accountancy (Part-Time)
Those over the age of 19 can apply for these part-time, AAT qualifications in accountancy.If you're looking to get your start in this field, our part-time courses are the ideal solution.
Art & Design
Are you creative and have a passion for art? With dedicated art courses incorporating a wide variety of art styles including 3D, mixed media, photography and more, studying art at EDC's Peterlee campus certainly paints a pretty picture!
Beauty Therapy

Brickwork
Build a name for yourself and study bricklaying right here at EDC! Our brickwork courses are full-time, and train you for work on a construction site in our huge bricklaying workshop, incorporating all of the tools and equipment you'll need during your course.

Catering & Hospitality (Professional Cookery)
You're the next Masterchef - it just all begins here at East Durham College! With two huge, professional kitchens where you'll learn your craft, our own restaurant - Scene 1 - which is open to the public and tuition from experienced chefs, you'll be cooking up a storm at EDC before you know it.
Childcare & Adult Care
Working with young children or adults needing care can be an extremely rewarding job, where you'll make a real difference to someone's life. Our childcare and adult care courses prepare you for a career in this sector, with specialist tuition, work experience placements, and also our own nursery on-site, where you can spend time caring for children.

Foundation Studies
At East Durham College, we support SEN learners with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties with our foundation programmes. We offer a wide range of subjects and study programmes, all of which are adjusted for the individual learner's needs. Course options can include art, cookery, craft design and technology, IT, independent living skills and more.
GCSEs
Looking to retake your GCSEs? At East Durham College, we encourage all of our learners to improve their Maths and English skills by offering part-time GCSE courses both during the day, and on an evening. These courses are open for all ages, from school leavers to adults.
Hairdressing & Barbering
Learn all the skills you'll need to become a hairdresser or a barber with our courses at our Peterlee campus! You'll learn in our dedicated hair salon from professionals with years of experience of working in the industry - our barbering tutor, Alison, is not only the UK's first Grand Master female barber; she was voted as the Further Education Teacher of the Year (2018) in the entire UK!

In partnership with Sunderland University and Teesside University we offer a selection of carefully-chosen higher education courses at EDC. Options include Sports Coaching, Engineering, Education and Care, Counselling and Certificate in Post Compulsory Education and Training (PCET)
LEAP (Learn, Explore, Achieve, Progress)
The LEAP programme is specifically designed for learners age 16-18 who are out of education, and unsure what to do next. This short programme focuses on building employability skills, helping learners to move towards their chosen career path.
Motor Vehicle (The Technical Academy)
Step into our purpose-built motor vehicle workshop at The Technical Academy in Peterlee's Industrial estate, and work your way towards become a qualified mechanic! Our workshop includes real vehicles to test your skills on, plus leading tuition from experienced mechanics.

Plumbing & Gas (The Technical Academy)

Science
Our BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science is a multidisciplinary subject covering applied biology, physics and chemistry as well as psychology and law. It is a rigorous subject that makes students highly employable, with many of students progressing on to university placements in biomedical sciences, forensic science, psychology and law degrees.

East Durham College is a true centre of excellence for sport in Further Education.
