Planning For Re-Opening From 1st June 2020

Fri, 15/05/2020 - 10:15

Dear Students, Parents and Carers,

As you will be aware, the Government issued guidance this week about beginning face-to-face support for Y10s and Y12s (first year full time students) from teachers, and for early years provision, which includes the College’s nursery, from Monday 1st June.

We are following the Government guidance carefully, and exploring how we can re-open for a very limited number of students. We will be prioritising those who will be sitting exams next year and those who need additional practical assessments so that they can achieve this year’s qualification and progress onto the next academic year. The intention is that some limited face-to-face support for these students will supplement on-going remote teaching.

There is no intention for any student groups to return full-time at the present time. Nor is there any intention for students who need to use public transport or taxis to travel to college to make those journeys at this time, even if they are in the priority groups. These students will continue to be supported by learning remotely.

We are making careful arrangements to address issues of safety, and to observe social distancing rules. We will not open if it is not safe to do so, and/or the Government guidance changes.

We will be contacting priority students groups by letter from the middle of W/c 18th May and following up via phone, text and email with more information.

If you have any concerns before them, please contact us using the LiveChat function or email use at enquiries@eastdurham.ac.uk

Thank you and keep safe .
