Local hero Glenn Foot, 22, from Sunderland has been working with leading boxing coach David Binns in preparation for his first professional fight - on a World Title bill at the Rainton Meadows Arena, in Houghton-le-Spring, this Saturday.

Glenn approached East Durham College’s Boxing Coach David Binns and asked if he could help him train for the fight. He’s been on an intensive training schedule ever since.

David Binns, who is also a Regional Coach for ABAE (Amateur Boxing Association of England), said: “Glenn has a fantastic attitude towards training and he’s very focused on what he wants to achieve”.

Foot, who boxed at Sunderland ABC where he had great success earning an England vest and competed in 3 national finals, will be fighting Vinny Woolford from Ramsgate in Kent.

Glenn added: “I’ve got a lively opponent for my first fight, I’d much rather have a proper match rather than a walk over in 10 seconds”.

Glenn went on to say: “my training is going very well, Dave’s got me punching properly and moving my feet better, I’m definitely looking for a win”

If you’d like to join the College and enrol at the Boxing Academy and get to train with David Binns call student Services on 0191 518 8222 for more details.
