Republic Night Is A Knockout

Republic, the indie music gig event from Freaky Weasel was hailed a huge success with over 150 people turning up.

London based band FranKo headlined the event with frontman Tommy Bastow.

Tommy is best known for his part as the son in the family on the current BT adverts, as well as for his role as Dave the Laugh in the teen cult film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.

FranKo, who played in Peterlee last year, came back as a special favour for the music promotion company Freaky Weasel.

Richard Craker, lead guitarist with Franko, winner of the Paul Walters Guitar Prize and who famously played a spot on Sir Terry Wogan’s BBC Radio 2 show, said: “It was a pleasure to come back to Peterlee, we made an exception for Andrew (Promoter), it was fantastic last time we played here and all the people involved are brilliant!”

Music promoter Andrew Rodgers from Freaky Weasel added: “The night saw a great line-up with FranKo, Moonlight Valentino and Press to Meco, all very talented artists and it’s always great to see the fans enjoying themselves too.”

Tommy Bastow, who told us he had a new and exciting role coming up in Eastenders, remarked: “There’s a great buzz around here and this facility is knockout for gigs, it’s perfect.”
