A young athlete who recently become a Cross-country County Champion has now been crowned a college champion too.

Sport Studies student Chloe Price, aged 16, from Peterlee, took part in last Wednesday’s North East Colleges X-Country Trials.

Chloe, who studies at East Durham College’s Peterlee Campus, came first in the 4.8km race in a time of 18min 51sec, a full minute ahead of her nearest rival.

Chloe saw off runners from Gateshead College, Guisborough’s Prior Pursglove College and QE Sixth Form in Darlington to take top honours.

She now qualifies for the North East College’s Squad to race at the British Colleges Sport National Championships which will be held at Bath University on 30th March to 1st April.

“I’m really pleased with this win, and feel in great shape which will hopefully set me up for a good summer on the track.”

Chloe’s next challenge however will be when she represents the North of England at the English Schools’ X-Country Championships on 17th March which will be held at Ilton in Somerset.
