East Durham College is a true centre of excellence for sport in Further Education. The College continues to receive loads of attention from those who matter the most; passionate athletes and top quality coaching staff.
With a wide range of courses covering sport, leisure, uniformed public services and outdoor education, and with provision from Level 1 through to Foundation Degree, there is certain to be something to meet your needs and interests.
Students have access to a wide range of additional vocational qualifications to enhance their programme. These include Community Sports Leader Award, Higher Sports Leader Award, FE Coaching and RFU Coaching.
Many of our students on sports and outdoor education courses are also members of Team East Durham, the College’s dedicated athlete development programme.
Students studying other course areas are also able to be members of Team East Durham. There are Sport Performance Centres in Basketball, Boxing, Dance, Football, Netball and Rugby.

At EDC, we are very lucky to be partnered with Hartlepool United, who use our Peterlee campus as their training ground.
For young footballers, this opens up some great opportunities - you could join our 16-19 Hartlepool United shadow squad, where you get a whole host of benefits, including excellent coaching from former Sunderland player Darren Holloway, the opportunity to rub shoulders with the Hartlepool First Team, and much more!
For students at an exceptional standard in boxing, football and rugby there is also our Elite Sports Scholarship Programme which offer a host of extra free benefits.
