East Durham College student Stacey Armstrong recently won the Hairdressing Award at the College’s June Student Awards ceremony.
Stacey, along with seven other students from different course areas at the College, was presented with her achievement certificate and prize by Interim Principal Eugene McCrossan.
Stacey, 17, from Wheatley Hill, has been studying on a C&G Level 2 Diploma in Women's Hairdressing.
Stacey said: “I’m so pleased I’ve won the Award! I’ve really enjoyed my course this year, especially the practical sessions.
“I’ve also really enjoyed participating in other activities at the College; I was a model for body painting at the student hair and beauty competition regional heats which was really good fun!
“My goal is to be a hairdresser and I’ve started to apply for apprenticeships as I love working with clients.”
Lecturer Angela Johnston added: “Stacey has an overall attendance of 100% and she is 100% committed to her course. She is polite, friendly and works extremely well both on her own and with others and is keen to learn new things.
“Stacey has participated in many extra-curricular activities including participation in the hair and beauty competition, during which she did extremely well.
“Stacey has been an exemplarily student this year and has been successful in all aspects of her course. Well done!”
