Attendance for all full time students is monitored on a daily basis. If you are sick or have an emergency and can’t get into College then you (or someone on your behalf) must contact your Progression Coach by telephone before 9.30am.
Students in receipt of certain benefits will have them withdrawn if they don’t follow this procedure. In certain situations e.g. hospital appointment, driving test, etc. you can apply to your Progression Coach for your absence to be authorised. This MUST be done at least two days before the appointment. A list of the type of absences that can be authorised is available from the Progression Coaches or Student Services.
Students failing to maintain a satisfactory level of attendance or behaviour will invoke the College Disciplinary Procedures and may be required to:
- Leave their programme/College
- Repay any grants, loans or financial support received
- Pay tuition/examination fees
- Be responsible for repayment of concessionary travel
- Repay any Learner Support Funds they may have received
If full time students don’t contact their Progression Coach, he/she will contact the student's parent/guardian.

As parents/guardians of potential students of East Durham College, we would like to make you aware of the latest 16-18 performance data that has been published about East Durham College by the Department for Education (DfE) on their schools and colleges compare performance website.
These results are published in January each year to allow school leavers and their parents/guardian(s) the opportunity to compare local providers. This allows you to make a more informed decision, based upon the latest performance data for the relevant colleges.
