East Durham College have linked up with Byron Place Shopping Centre in Seaham to offer one lucky student a unique retail opportunity.
The shopping centre is offering the College’s Peter Jones Enterprise Academy students the chance to win a free promotional retail space at the Centre for one weekend.
The students will have to put together a sales pitch showing their different business ideas before presenting them in a Dragons’ Den style presentation to judges; Byron Place Centre Manager, John Brady, and East Durham College Curriculum Director for Service Industries, Andrea Finkel-Gates, who will grill the students and then select a winner.
The judges will be considering a number of specific areas in their judgements such as how the student’s ideas will be beneficial to the shoppers at Byron Place, how they plan to market their stall over the weekend and how they will manage their funds over the two days.
The students will have to present their business plan to the judges on Friday 22nd March at Byron Place Shopping Centre. The winning student or group will then be given a promotional space in the mall for one weekend, to put their plan into action and to try and maximise their sales and profits.
