A group of college students studying on a horse care course are busy planning and preparing to put on a show jumping competition.
The group of 15 students, studying on the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Equine Management at East Durham College’s Houghall Campus, are combining their skills to organise the Houghall Easter Show Jumping event.
Chloe Walker, Head of Equine Studies, said: “The event is the main section of one of their modules, ‘Managing an Equine Event’ where they have to plan, run and evaluate an event as a group.
“All elements of the event are organised by the students, from designing the show jumping track to booking the caterers, ordering the rosettes and marketing the whole thing.”
The Competition will be held at the Equine Arena on Houghall Farm, Shincliffe, Durham on Saturday 31st March. The event will include a clear round course from 10am till 12pm followed by the classes ranging from 55cm to 95cm.
Correct riding gear including a BSI standard hat must be worn. For more details or an entry form please call Equine Lecturer Chloe Walker on 0191 375 4773.
“We hope that you can support the event either as a spectator or as a competitor,” added Mrs Walker.
