East Durham College media students have been taught a radio masterclass by two stars of local north east radio.
Heart North East drive time presenter Tom Campbell and producer Craig Stewart visited the college to talk to students about their different roles at Heart.
Tom and Craig inspired the students talking about their careers, both having worked at various radio stations all over the country in a number of different roles, working up to where they are today.
During the session they also showed the students some examples of work they have put together for their show and taught the students some important dos and don’ts of radio.
The session was put on just as the students get ready to put together their own radio shows on college radio as part of their course.
East Durham College media lecturer, Suzi Martin, thanked the team from Heart and believes their visit will be a big boost ahead of the students’ project.
Suzi said: “It was really great of Tom and Craig to visit the college and talk to the students here about their careers and what goes behind putting together a successful radio show.
“Both have a great passion for radio and I really felt that this rubbed off on the students who took part in the class.
“I believe this session will have been a great uplift for the students as they get prepared to put together a radio show as part of their course project. I am sure they will have picked up some great tips from the day.”
